ABOUT ARTWORK
An exploration into the realm of city form.
The broad scope of these studies is to observe and to depict. Looking at cities can give a particular pleasure, however commonplace the sight may be. At every instance, there is more than the eye can see, more than the ear can hear, a setting or a view waiting to be explored. Nothing is experienced by itself, but always in relation to its surroundings, the sequences of events leading up to it, the memory of past experiences.
These artworks are collections of city scenes characterized by archetypal vignettes, rooted in the context and devoid of any trivial connotations. They are in conjunction with an idiosyncratic narrative structure, the idea of a quest “in search for a home.”
The series cover the two cities that we have lived in, Shanghai and Hong Kong. We plan to expand the series as we travel and explore.
We also take commission project. Write to us on our contact page, email us at hello(at)supershit.co or slide in our Instagram DM.
STUDIO PROCESS
A fundamentally driven practice wherein the emphasis is on the process, measured to each project’s ambitions and constraints. We believe in an approach that covers all aspects of an architectural project concerning context and tradition, the materials and light, the senses, and the physical experience of the space. The studio’s architectural language is not apprehensive of aesthetics but resists conventions and preconceived aesthetic strategies. Instead, the practice favors the architecture perceived slowly over time and has sensitive and emotional significance. An architecture rooted in place and a product of pure and tactile materials creates a timeless design.
